Organised by Synapxe, Singapore’s national HealthTech agency, the GenAIus Challenge 2024 is an innovation programme in public healthcare to leverage Generative AI (GenAI) to solve challenges and convert use cases to real-life solutions that transform Singapore’s healthcare.

Public healthcare professionals who have an interest in solving real-world healthcare challenges with technology or have day-to-day challenges that they believe GenAI can help resolve, can participate in the GenAIus Challenge.

Through a proven innovation framework by industry tech leaders, teams who join the GenAIus Challenge will have the unique opportunity to tackle real-world challenges and bring their visionary solutions to life with Synapxe’s tech partners Amazon Web Services, Avanade/Microsoft and Google Cloud.

Transformative potential

Leverage the power of GenAI to tackle real-world healthcare challenges and make a lasting impact on the industry.

Tech partnerships

Collaborate with leading industry tech partners and experience the end-to-end process of developing solutions.

Networking opportunities

Connect with like-minded healthcare professionals, AI experts, and industry leaders, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.

The Challenge comprises four key stages that bring participants through the process of refinement of use cases to the development of minimum viable products (MVPs) and eventually to the potential deployment of MVPs in the real world.

Stage 1: Ideation workshop
The GenAIus Challenge kicked off with three in-person Ideation Workshops hosted by each of our industry tech partners. Participants were taken through industry proven frameworks designed to help refine their use cases and develop innovative solutions to solve daily work challenges with GenAI.
Stage 2: Submission and selection
Teams will submit their proposed use cases for evaluation. Selected teams will be invited to advance to the next stage to design and develop their MVP.
Stage 3: Design and development of MVP
With the support of your assigned tech partner, your team will build and test the prototype for your GenAI use case.
Stage 4: MVP launch
High-potential MVPs may lead to eventual deployment in the public healthcare ecosystem.

Dr Aaron Lee, Senior Consultant, Department of Anaesthesiology, Singapore General Hospital, at the Ideation Workshop by AWS

“The Ideation Workshop enabled us to refine our use case by envisioning the viable product we wanted to create at the end of the road using a 'working backwards' approach.

Through the GenAIus Challenge, we hope to improve two critical processes for anaesthetists. Firstly, to develop a chatbot using GenAI that helps to answer our doctors’ clinical queries with the relevant guidelines and evidence. Secondly, to enhance safety and efficiency in the anaesthetic premeds process by using GenAI to summarise and highlight the patient's anaesthetic concerns and treatment plan.”

“Through the GenAIus Challenge, we wanted to facilitate the handling of patients' enquiries, a common clinical operations issue. Our goal was to develop a GenAI-powered solution capable of assisting us to automate this process through multi-agent prompts, thereby significantly reducing the response time to patients, and easing the workload for hospital staff and clinicians.

The Ideation Workshop, hosted by Avanade & Microsoft, proved invaluable in refining our use case through critical design thinking and innovation approaches. The constructive feedback received guided us in thinking about the patients’ experience when using the solution and anticipating their needs.”

Charmaine Sim, Advanced Practice Nurse (Critical Care), National University Hospital, at the Ideation Workshop by Google Cloud

“Our goal through the GenAIus Challenge, was to enhance patient care in the intensive care unit (ICU) by exploring two predictive tools powered by GenAI. The first tool would assist nurses in determining the timing and mode of dialysis a patient needs, while the second tool would empower nurses with data-driven insights to make better informed decisions on when to extubate patients.

The Ideation Workshop hosted by Google Cloud prompted us to think deeper on how we can further develop and scale up our use cases, to potentially impact more ICUs or even institutions at large.”
